How do you manage swabbing internal product surfaces of pipes conveying dry RTE product? Looking for options that involve not cutting out a dozen access doors for sampling!

How do you clean them?  At what frequency?

Is your micro sampling significantly more frequent than your cleaning cycle?

Hi Ananiah Blessing,

:welcome:

Welcome to the IFSQN forums

As G M has indicated you would swab after cleaning. With dry products, this may not be particularly frequent unless necessary for something like an allergen change.

A deterioration in product micro results would suggest an issue that warrants cleaning & swabbing. In powder manufacturing we used Microbial Trend Analysis (MTA) to determine levels of contamination and the need for cleaning. This is a better and more hygienic option IMO than breaking open equipment/plant to sample/swab.

Kind regards,

Tony
