Dear Sir/Madam,

I really need your help and suggestion.

We get requests from our customers regarding the irradiation process.

We are can manufacturing and there is no irradiation treatment or process, but the main materials we use have an irradiation (x-ray) process where the irradiation is intended for inspection.
The main material we use is tinplate which is intended for food packaging (no inside coating).
1. Are there any provisions governing irradiation of packaging?
2. Do we have to do testing to confirm the maximum absorbed dose?
3. Are there any relevant methods or standards?
4. Are US FDA regulations 21 CFR Part 179 relevant to this case?

Please give your insight
Thank you in advance

Hi alyakbarbintang,

Have you asked your customers why they are enquiring about irradiation of your tinplate packaging?

Kind regards,

Tony

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, we have asked to our customer's and they said have concern about irradiation but didn't explain it to us in detail. They usually export their product to US, Canada, and EU.
