Can anyone explain the purpose and compliance of the Extended Producer Responsibility (ERP) Laws???

In several US states, including California, Colorado, Oregon, Maine and Minnesota, have passed extended producer responsibility laws (EPR Laws) related to product packaging and, depending on the state, certain paper and food service ware products (the product packaging and such products collectively referred to as “Covered Products”). Other states are proposing similar EPR Laws.

Among their requirements, the EPR Laws require “Producers” of “Covered Products” to register with a producer responsibility organization (PRO), provide certain reports to the PRO with respect to Covered Products, and pay fees based on the amount and type of Covered Products for which the Producer is responsible in such state.

I briefly read California's Senate BIll No. 54 passed by the Governor on June 30, 2022 but understand that the PRO (Circular Action Alliance) for California, Colorado and likely Oregon has set a date of July 1, 2024, for Producers to
register with them. If you have not yet done so, please plan to be compliant by registering with Circular Action Alliance before this date so that they can notify you of requirements as they develop. The registration asks for your company’s name and the name and contact information of a primary contact at your company.

*Note, we are a bulk agriculture product (with "optimized" packaging being minimal) and do not sell any food service product, thank you!
