Hello - looking for some guidance on supplier approval for green coffee beans.

We do not import beans and only purchase from brokers. In that case, who should be the approved suppler - the importer or the farms themselves?

We also do not roast the beans - they are stored in our facility, sent to a roaster, and sent back to be used as an ingredient. The green beans themselves cannot be used. What kind of information would be needed to approve the green beans considering they are wrapped and separated in our facility and cannot be used until they are roasted?

Thanks in advance!

The approved supplier is the broker

By signing, they are attesting that the information they provide you is correct

I agree with scampi.  The broker is the supplier.   For the most part the documentation required for raw agriculatureal commodities varies as the manufacture usually controlls most of the hazards associated with them.

However, dont forget the roaster.   they are most likely a com-manufacture.

CoffeeQA  - everyone else has answered your question, thus no reason for me to chime in - however, I am curious about what you said here:

"We also do not roast the beans - they are stored in our facility, sent to a roaster, and sent back to be used as an ingredient"

Why do  you accept the raw green coffee beans for storage and then ship out to a roaster, instead of having it shipped directly to the roaster?
