The why, what for and how on Food Equipment & Supplies Safety Certification

Took Place:
Friday, April 19, 2024

Presenter:
Larry Levine, Strategic Account Manager, NSF

Webinar Overview:
Food Equipment & Supplies safety certification has quietly and almost secretly been around over 80 years. During the booming restaurant and hospitality growth in the 1940’s, a group of scientists realized that there no guidelines for the practice of manufacturing equipment and supplies to be cleanable and made with food safe materials. As a result, the creation of the National Sanitation Foundation or now proudly just known as NSF was formed. We will look at a brief history of NSF, the ‘Standards’ that NSF created and maintains, the effects it plays on foodservice equipment manufacturers, inventors, operators, health departments, the hospitality industry in general along with how NSF helps national and international restaurant operators maintain specification integrity.
