Retail Labeling

Hi everyone, I have a question on labeling for a retail product. Currently we use the date as a lot code for traceability on our products, which we do not sell as retail. We are looking into a retail side and are curious about the labeling. Is there a code that we can use that includes a date, serial number, etc.?

Hi Erica. I work for 2 companies, and each one uses different lot codes on their products. One company is using a lot number which is BB date + vat # (2023 OC 23 A1). Another one applies BB date and a lot #, developed internally. It could be anything convenient to your organization, like, for instance 3270, where 3 is a last digit of current year, and 270 is a sequence number of a day, which is September 27.

The lot code can be whatever is convenient for you.  Many products types will require a separate distinguishable expiry date for the consumer though.
