Dear all

Our customers have a requirement that our food metal packaging products must in compliance with US (FDA) regulations, in which case we must comply with Bisphenol A.
We are currently looking for references to US regulations (FDA) for the specific migration limit for Bisphenol A. From the information we have obtained, BPA restrictions in US are only limited to food packaging for infants while our food metal packaging is not intended for infants.

For the European market, we use EU regulation No. 2018/213 for restriction BPA with specific migration limit 0,05 mg BPA/kg of food.
Can you help us to provide regulation references (US-FDA) regarding the restrictions on BPA in food contact materials? Is there a Specific Migration Limit? we need your advice.

Thankyou

Good morning,

There are no current federal restrictions on the level or quantity of BPA that are allowed in food packaging or contact surfaces.  HOWEVER, there have been recent petitions accepted by the FDA, just this year, trying to encourage the FDA to create restrictions.  I have provided some sites for you below.  Hope this helps.

Cheers!
