Safe Food - Safe Feed Certification Transitioning To BRC Certification

So I am new to the Animal Feed side of the business, I come from a Poultry Processing background with BRC. I have been tasked with transitioning the animal feed facilities that are currently using Safe Food Safe Feed (SFSF) Certification to BRC Certification.

Does anyone have any experience in this? What items were the most different in comparison? How did you prepare your facility?

Any thoughts/ideas/opinions would be helpful!

Thanks in advance :)

I have done this for three facilities with absolutely no food safety program in place.    As you know, the BRCGS standard is much more in depth and prescriptive than what you are currently doing.   However, SFSF gives you a great start as there is good amount of crossover.

I would get the brcgs self-assessment checklist.   Go through it line by line and word by word to determine any gaps that you need to fill and where you are already compliant.   Then improve the areas where you are deficient.

While you only are required to conduct an internal audit once per year.   I find it helpful to do it routinely at the beginning until you are confident in your program.
