Hi,
I was wondering if someone could briefly outline the differences between Whitebait & Blanchbait?
Much Obliged! - Thank You!

from a source blanchbait is whitebait that's been gutted and the head has been cut off
https://colchesteroy...into your fryer.
I find this highly amusing............blanche in French = white, no wonder there's next to no difference
I'm guessing depending on where you look there will be some difference, no difference or nothing found

Thank you both .. I did read the very literature you posted Scampi .. I was scratching my head somewhat
Blanc is 'white' in French but Blanch does mean to whiten .. it also means to immerse in hot water though (just to confuse matters further)

What you've managed to do very successfully is make me crave smelt!
Alas, Lake Erie no longer has enough of them to feed anyone

Probably due to Bessie. I am positive that the Lake Erie Monster has taken many of big fish I would have otherwise caught up there.
Cheers!
