Guidance on cutting back Environmental Testing

We have 11 production lines in our Facility. We are a dry manufacturing facility (Flours, Corns, Baked goods etc.). For two years we have tested each line monthly for E coli, Enterobacteriaceae and Coliform, we have had no issues and would like to cut back to testing five lines per month. We do Two HZ1 and HZ2. Can someone please give me some guidance.

You could cut back to every 2 months - but still do all the lines, 5 and 5.

 

I think it not prudent to eliminate - just lengthen the testing.

Why aren't you testing for Salmonella?

We test for Salmonella on HZ3 and HZ4. Not HZ1 And HZ2

I am new to this site however I conducted a Risk Assessment (pretty robust one) , utilized all data already collected to give you some back up and perhaps speak to your customers. Make sure you know the absolute minimum requirements and are complying. Also most auditors are willing to give some guidance if needed. 

Do your homework, also ensure that you can defend your decision to reduce monitoring.  

We would not cut back at all but test five lines one month and five the next month. So in reality HZ1 and HZ2 for each line would be completed six times a year. Thank you so much for your time and help

We have not tested for Salmonella in HZ1 HZ2 as we followed a guidance created by a university on what and where to test.  Please let me know your thoughts.

Unfotunately there are a lot of unknown variables, eg -

 

Products, eg rte etc,

Acceptability criteria

Sampling scheme

Actual results

Environment/Flow Patterns

 

Difficult to suggest anything IMO.
