Type of Gloves for handling Frozen Products
Recently we have been having problems with foreign matter of particles from Nitrile Gloves which are used by our Food handlers. Are there any other type of gloves that can be used in handling Frozen products during packing? Which seems to tear unnoticeably. And what do you recommend as a Control Measure?
Hi,
I can recommend MAPA Proffesional Gloves, they have a really good range of different type of gloves approved to be used in Food Sector. I would check them out first.
Food industry | MAPA Professional (mapa-pro.co.uk)
Other that I know of:
Supertouch Blue Fish Scale Gloves - 500 Pack | Workwear101
Grippaz Nitrile Food Safety Gloves - SafetyGloves.co.uk
Hope this helps.
certain you don't want to order from Canada, but this is a good resource of what glove type in different environments
Hello:
We are a frozen berry operation and use disposable nitrile gloves which are changed out at least every 2 hours.
"Pre-Covid" - we had a reliable source of 4.5 mil gloves which held up well.
However with the scarcity of PPE over the past 14 months we have received some which are lighter weight i.e. 3 mil and also some blended with vinyl.
Both of these type do tear much easier and need to be replaced more often, and I have made sure not to purchase any more!
As I am sure you are aware, you want to stay away from latex - so I would focus on the quality of the nitrile for my corrective action.
Our control measure has been short shop floor type training sessions to keep everyone focused on the risk of this type of contamination.
Hope this helps.
