Not a food safety topic but I thought someone might know.....

If we import a kosher product - do nothing with it other than store it, then despatch it to a customer, does the storage facilty have to be certifed a Kosher?

Thanks

From my experience, no. You would only need to be kosher certified if the product was being opened and repackaged in anyway.

From my similar experience too, I agree.

Actually it is a Kosher food safety topic.

Some (but not all) of the Kosher certifiers require inspections at all stages (including storage and distributor.)

I would first check with the certifier to see what they say as to the requirements for transportation and storage.

Normally two things may come up - tanker transport (regardless of rolling or stationary) and pest control.

Your facility will not be required to be certified Kosher, however an inspection by a local Kosher CB may be required.

No, The facility doesn't need to be certified. Just prepare the Kosher certificate of the product since that's what the customer will be looking for if they used it for their consumption or ingredients in manufacturing.
