we're currently using sodium sulfite for boiler maintenance (corrosion control). boiler is used in a factory of carrageenan production. do we need to secure food-safety certification ? or is sodium sulfite a GRAS compound?

If you go to your chemical provider, they should be able to give you a document that states it is food grade.
