Hi everyone;

 

We are doing inhouse, swab micro testing twice a month, is there in the BRC or SQF standard requirement for the company to have the ATP swab testers?

 

Does anyone know where to buy these ATP swab testers preferably in the pacific region or any suppliers that are accreditated etc.

I'm not sure what you mean by "swab tester" ?

 

Many people are using kits like Hygiena, etc ?

yes this the one I mean -- the hygiena, I have already been to that website, you gave now yesterday and still have not got a reply.

Any other direct contact?

 

please advice, we do have DHL at our country so it would be good for shipping the order.

For swab testing 3M or Hygiena is preferred. We use 3M in our company.

it would be expensive to call them, would prefer the email.

May I know where you order your 3M or hygiena? Do they have email?

 

would really appreciate, I live in Kiribati one of the pacific islands and calling is not really an option!

Sorry to say, i dont think 3M supply is there in Kiribati, you may try nearest country, may be Australia.

Hygiena have the following email listed as 'International' contact for Cleaning Verification Products. I would try that, they will likely direct you to the relevant people. I deal with Hygiena (UK) and have always found them very helpful.

Regarding requirements - for BRC at least - have a look at clause 4.11.3:

 

Limits of acceptable and unacceptable cleaning performance shall be defined for food contact surfaces

and processing equipment. These limits shall be based on the potential hazards relevant to the product or

processing area (e.g. microbiological, allergen, foreign-body contamination or product-to-product

contamination). Therefore, acceptable levels of cleaning may be defined by visual appearance, ATP

bioluminescence techniques (see glossary), microbiological testing, allergen testing or chemical testing

as appropriate.

 

From the I.G:

 

The limits need to be based on risk, and this should be used for assessing whether the cleaning undertaken

is of an acceptable standard. Acceptable limits may be based on visual inspection, ATP monitoring or

specific analysis such as microbiological, allergen or chemical testing. For example, where the cleaning is

principally designed to provide a clean processing environment, an assessment of ‘visually clean’ may be

sufficient. However, where the level of cleaning is to ensure a sterile food contact surface to make sure that

all traces of an allergen have been removed or to prevent cross-contamination of different meat species,

the level of acceptable cleaning performance may need to be based on more rigorous checks such as the

results of ATP, microbiological or allergen tests.

 

As you see from above, it depends on your product/process and thus RA
