I just had an audit and received an minor on our gloves. They are food safe gloves but the auditor didn't like the knitted band around the wrist. I have looked high and low for different gloves that heat restraint( we make candy). How can I correct this minor non-conformance?

Are the gloves directly touching the candy? What type of gloves are these and where in the operation are you using them?

Yes the gloves is touching the candy. They are used in the kitchen part of production.

Isn't that better to use sanitizers against gloves? I'm also working in a confection industry and having same kind of situation.

The gloves we are heat resistant. Employees have to use them. The candy be 150 degrees plus when they touch it. I can't find an form fitting glove with out knit on them.

There seems to be a lot of food heat resistant gloves when searching online, what did the auditor say about the gloves that posed a problem? That the gloves posed a foreign material issue? Do you regularly change them out and keep them in good repair? Writing an SOP that says how you maintain these gloves may be one solution..

We have an glove policy that state to change gloves weekly are as needed. The auditor didn't like the knit area around the waist. The auditor thinks the thread will get in the candy. The gloves are blue and will be noticed in candy. All this was stated in the audit.

Does your policy include daily inspections? Without seeing the gloves myslef, it seems like a good idea to find anothert type that doesn't have any chance to pose a risk.. Could you modofy your gloves temporarlly until you can source another supplier?

Uline, Grangier, Global Industrial, Hantover are a few websites that may have alternative gloves.

here options but I think your auditor is being nit picky; you have to protect your employees

I know the glove you mean and it takes quite a while for them to start to break down and need replacing
