Hi All,

Just wanted to get everyone's opinions on having a receiving dock being connected to a garbage compactor chute. We have a double garage door "air lock" for the receiving dock, but on the right hand side of the air lock dock wall is the chute for the garbage compactor. The compactor chute has a door to close it when not in use.

Thoughts?

It's fine...you just need to ensure you have a proper procedure for

sanitation of the compactor area including both sides of door

employees trained to ensure area is always tidy and door closed when not in use

door is checked to be closed prior to receiving anything

FYI more facilities than not will be designed this way

Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

Have several clients same situation. This is not an issue. If pushed, an auditor might ask for a risk analysis, so do one and keep it on file.
