Hello

I have searched for this answer with no luck.  Please direct me to a link if this was already covered somehere.

SQF 2.5.4.2  On-site personnel that conduct enviromental or product testing shall participate in a applicable proficiency testing program at least annually to ensure accuracy of results.

Any ideas of where to get this training and what it involves?

I did find a online course and am waiting for a reply from the company to find out if this is acceptable for SQF.

Thanks!

Depends on what you're testing.

In-house microbiological testing:

Thank you for the response, but I am still confused.

We send swab tests for Selmonella and Listeria in the environment to a outside lab quarterly and water test for E Coli annually.

We do not do any product testing.

I do in house swab testing for  environmental Salmonella &  Listeria monthly using Hygiena incubator & swabs.

When I send swabs to the lab I swab the same areas and test in house to verify my test matches the results of the lab.

I also use Neogen allergen specific test kit for Egg allergen.

Do I just need to ensure my in-house tests match those of the outside lab at least annually and/or do I need to pass some type of proficiency test stating I am qualified to do the testing?

Sorry for my confusion. Preparing for SQF and feeling overwhelmed at the moment.

2.5.4 Implementation Guidance

If an internal or company laboratory is used, test methods should be checked against an accredited external laboratory at least once per year.

Sounds like your current procedure should be sufficient.

Thank you !

For audit purposes, its very defendable.
