Extrapolation of Particle Size Data

Does anyone have experience extrapolating particle size results from manual testing to RoTap results (I hope I am asking this question correctly)????

 

Ok, so here's what's going on:

 

We have a product that we cut to size per the customer specification. The customer requires that we use the RoTap Method  for testing to ensure the product is meeting the specification. We do the RoTAp method in the lab at startup prior to packaging. However, I am trying to come up with a quicker method  for the technicians to check the particle size during production. I want the technicians to use a smaller sample and manually shake for less time (shaking only. no tapping. so this technique would not exactly mimic the RotAp. I want to justify this quick method to the customer by collecting dating, creating a graph, and extrapolating the results that the technician get during production. Any thoughts?

Not being a math genius, I would say collect data from both tests side-by-side to see if you have a correlation that suits your needs, then present the data to the customer.

 

If you haven't done so, I would double check the customer's requirements.  Perhaps you're already meeting their requirements doing a check at the beginning.
