Water Sampling Risk Assessment

Hi, 

 

I am reviewing our water sampling procedure and wanted to use a risk assessment to determine which outlets need to be included on the water sampling schedule. 

 

All water is mains supplied, which is  supplied via the water company and I receive micro and chemical analysis reports every three months. 

 

We have no water storage tanks or water treatments (only use water softeners) hard water area. 

 

I have mapped the water source and all of the outlets which are used, for handwash sinks, pot and tray washers, hygiene and ingredients. 

 

Can anyone advise of how you would risk which outlets require sampling

What is the reason that you wish to sample on a risk based scheme, eg what FS Standard ?

All your water outlets must be included in your water sampling RA. Frequency of sampling must be based on history of results of testing. You have to re-assess your sampling frequency based on the result of sampling and testing done. Mostly, more frequent sampling must be done to the outlets farthest from the source, chlorine concentration may no be the same to the outlets nearest from the source.

Do you mean 100% sampling every time ?  A "sampling" IMEX usually implies something like "check X units out of the total Y units" .

 

This is what I do + use a random sampling procedure to select/rotate the Xs for each sample.

 

Not sure if this is exactly  "risk-based" but it certainly involves "statistics."

 

If the pipe lines are sufficiently large diameter I have never noticed huge differences between outlet values although I guess it is not impossible if you have very long/ variable distances and/or substantially varying pipe sizes.

Not 100% every time. Since in our sampling is based on the out put of our RA, every faucet of group of faucet (composite sampling) has different sampling frequency. In every 6 months our longest freq all outlets are covered/sampled and tested.

Our plant is not so large, We have only 58 faucet all. Some of them are sampled in composite.

Hmm..if by risk rate it based on amount/times used and purpose of use.
