Starway Inc. Issues an Alert on Undeclared Sulfites

Starway Incorporated, located at 137 Grattan Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11237, is recalling Peony Mark Brand Roasted and Salted Pumpkin Seeds because the product contains undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

So, I actually read these, and I just have a quick question  about the FDA & Sulfites -

 

They aren't in the big 8 so you don't have to declare them on the labeling in the US, right? 

Why would the FDA be suggesting a recall  for sulfites?  Is it a New York State requirement? Why are NYS inspectors testing for them?
