Implementing HACCP/BRC for a Logistics Company

Hi there :bye:

I am just interested and researching methods of implementing HACCP or BRC for an organisation. They currently are ISO9001:2008 certified.
The Critical Points for this organisation would be during the transit from truck to the warehouse where it is then repacked into cold containers.
These goods are already packaged from the shipper/manufacturer. The process is:-

Truck -> Warehouse for repacking into cold container -> on to the container ship -> Next Port of call and then delivery to final customer.

How /where should one start?
:helpplease:

Hello SeekingPerfection,

to start is always hard.

First decide whether the organisation want to go for HACCP-certification, BRc-certification, BRC S&D certification (or any other scheme).
Second make a comparison between the standard choosen and the current situation in the company.
Start implementing procedures for the gaps.

For HACCP plan: follow the 12 steps:
1) HACCP team;
2) describe product;
4) flow diagram;
5) verification flow diagram;
6) hazard identification;
7) risk assessment;
8) CCPs;
9) monitoring procedures;
10) corrective actions;
11) verification procedures;
12) documentation

Dear SeekingPerfection/QualityTorpedo, (sounds Japanese?)

Yr post was a little lacking in detail as to type of product / nature of yr "repacking" ?

My guess is that the first requirement for yr company will be a Business oriented Risk Assessment.

Certification  costs money, permanently, and one primary necessity for success is often regarded as Top Management Commitment. :smile:

And in addition to the previous haccp requirements - ,

do Customer's require it ?

does your safety-related history require it ?

Is yr boss a committed gambler ? and a cheap one ?

do you have a technical background if the job will devolve to you ?

PS - bit confused by the poll question, what is relevance of  "more than 1 type of transport mode"? helicopter ?

I am QA Manager at a storage and distribution facility.... we have one CCP ie Despatch/ Delivery. Everything else is either a pre-req or a CP e.g. goods in is a CP because we don't have control over the incoming temperature until the inspection stage; here we decide whether the product is fit for purpose and it is either accepted or rejected. Refrigeration et al are pre-req's

8 year poll.

And counting
