Hello everybody,

We have started an export company here in italy specialising in good quality italian foods. I have a background in quality systems even though in “slightly” a different area….. aircraft manufacture and other aircraft related affairs. We as a company, don’t need any certification because we don’t handle, label or even stock the food. We do however want to look into quality aspects of our suppliers as an additional guarantee to our clients. In doing that I’ve doing my homework on the various legal and quality requirements and at last have found this very interesting site which I hope will be very useful. I only hope that my questions or comments will also be of interest, and use, to whoever reads them.

Ok that me.

Hello Konrad, Welcome to the forums - aircraft to fine foods is quite a change, but I think you will have a good eye for quality and precision. I see six sigma pasta.

It sounds good what exactly will you be exporting and where to?

Regards,
Simon

Hi Simon,

At the moment our product lines is: organic Parmigiano reggiano cheese, vegetable rennet cheese, pecorino cheeses, truffle products, pasta (of course!) olive oil, balsamic vinegar amd biscuits. We are however always looking for new products to offer. Our supplier target is bigger than the old time family run small company and smaller than big industry. We're looking for the right mix between the two.
Regarding where..... well anywhere. We are having contacts with people in the USA, Venezuela, England, Ireland, France and Cyprus but at the moment we don't have any particular "entry points" in these markets.
Basically, apart from trying to sell, we are also trying offer a service to buyers that can't come to italy and visit companies themselves. We would like to act as a sort of guarantee for them. That's the idea anyway and that's why Iwe're interested in knowing more about food certification. Unfortunately a certified company doesn't mean that the food is good quality or even healthy either. (all those E's for example) so it's interesting to go and speak to the various companies and find out the various realities of the industry
Ciao
Konrad
